Katowice is located in southern Poland, and more precisely in the central part of the Slaskie Voivodeship. Initially they were an agricultural settlement. Their rapid development began only in the nineteenth century. Nowadays Katowice is one of the main centers of the Upper Silesian Industrial District. The city with an area of165 sq km has a population of over 290 thousand people.

Infrastructure

 

Katowice has a very well developed transport infrastructure. The extensive network of express and national roads and the A4 motorway have a positive impact on the development of a company with offices in the city. An additional advantage is the close distance from Katowice to the International Airport in Pyrzowice, which is about 32 km.

 

Tourism

 

Katowice belongs to a group of Polish cities that do not originate in the Middle Ages. They were created during rapid development in the 19th and 20th centuries. This means that tourists will not find in the center magnificent buildings representing the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles. Despite this, many people eagerly come to Katowice, including for concerts and events taking place in the Spodek events hall or in the Culture Zone.

The main attractions of the city include: St. Mary’s Church, the Nikiszowiec and Giszowiec housing estates, the parachute tower, the Culture Zone and the largest archcathedral in Poland, i.e. the Archcathedral of Christ the King.

 

Education and labor market

 

Katowice offers a wide range of fields and universities. They are one of the largest scientific centers in Poland. Around 20 universities operate in their area, including Silesian University of Technology, University of Economics, University of Silesia, Academy of Fine Arts and Silesian Medical University. This is good news for companies planning to open an office in Katowice, because they should not have major problems finding qualified employees with higher education. In addition, the Upper Silesian Metropolitan Union and Katowice due to the large number of employees from the IT sector are called the “IT basin”.

 

Another advantage in favor of conducting business in the city is its presence in the Katowice Special Economic Zone. As a result, companies with headquarters in the KSEZ can operate on preferential terms, e.g. tax exemptions.

The office market in Katowice is constantly adapting to the needs of companies. 86,000 sq m of office space is under construction. Almost half of it is planned for delivery in 2019. Two phases of the Face2Face investment (44,800 sq m) remain under construction. Total office resources in Katowice are estimated at 519,000 sq m.
